We offer fully-implemented Montessori education and child care at Community Montessori Columbus (CMC) during our School Year Session following a schedule compatible with the Columbus City Schools (CCS) calendars. In addition to the fully-implemented Montessori experience we offer during our School Year Session, CMC offers Summer and Break Session child care from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM on most normal business days CMC and CCS are not in session.

 

Each year, we offer a 10-week Summer Session, typically from June through August. Our Summer Session offers rolling enrollment, as availability allows, to families who aim to stay enrolled for the following School Year Session.  Programming follows the fully-implemented Montessori framework of the School Year Session with summer-friendly adjustments, like additional time outdoors.

 

Break Session child care is offered, scheduled, and invoiced by the day. Families of children enrolled in our School Year Session will be asked to sign up for Break Session child care a few weeks ahead of time, and child care will be provided according to demand. In the 2025-2026 School Year Session, we will offer Break Session child care on the following 17 days:

• Fall Family-Guide Conference Day (October 27th)

• Thanksgiving Break (November 24th through November 26th)

• All Non-holiday Weekdays over Winter Break (December 22nd-23rd, December 26th-30th, and January 2nd)

• Spring Break (April 3rd through April 10th)

• Spring Family-Guide Conference Day (April 20th)

All Summer and Break Sessions at CMC are staffed, to the greatest extent possible, by regular, full-time School Year Session staff, including Montessori-trained Guides. Additional Summer Session only Assistants are hired, as necessary. Our Summer and Break Session child care follows Montessori best practices and is structured similarly to our Extended Care options. We remain true to CMC's mission with a consistent five-day-a-week schedule, a homelike environment with plenty of time outdoors, and opportunities for children to develop independence and a sense of community.
