Summer & Break Sessions
We offer fully-implemented Montessori education and child care at Community Montessori Columbus (CMC) during our School Year Session following a schedule compatible with the Columbus City Schools (CCS) calendars. Please see our Calendar & Daily Schedule page for full details of our calendars. In addition to the fully-implemented Montessori experience we offer during our School Year Session, CMC offers Summer and Break Session child care from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM most normal business days CMC and CCS are not in session.
This summer, we are offering a 10-week Summer Session from June 3rd through August 9th. This summer session offers rolling enrollment as availability allows to families who aim to stay enrolled for the following school year session. The trained Montessorians that lead our Children's Houses during our School Year Session are continuing to lead their Children's House communities this 2024 Summer Session. Programming follows the fully-implemented Montessori framework of the School Year Session with summer-friendly adjustments, like additional time outdoors.
Break Session child care is offered, scheduled, and invoiced by the day. Families of children enrolled in our School Year Session will be asked to sign up for Break Session child care a few weeks ahead of time and child care will be provided according to demand. In the 2023-2024 School Year Session, we will offer Break Session child care on the following 18 days:

All Summer and Break Sessions at CMC will be staffed, to the greatest extent possible, by regular, full-time School Year Session staff including Montessori trained Guides. Additional Summer Session only Assistants will be hired, as necessary. Our Summer and Break Session child care will follow Montessori best practices and be structured similarly to our Extended Care options. We will remain true to CMC's mission with a consistent five-day-a-week schedule, a homelike environment with plenty of time outdoors, and opportunities for children to develop independence and a sense of community.
