August and Early September 2023: Welcomes and Hellos

We're thrilled to be back in the swing of things in Children's House East and West! We've welcomed six brand new members to our community so far this School Year Session — Tatum, Wolf, Teddy, Phoenix, Coraline, and Kelvin — and we're looking forward to welcoming more in the months ahead!

Before we dive into all the great pictures of our first weeks together, I'd like to offer a special thanks to all those that helped us prepare for our School Year Session during our Program Development week this August. We're especially thankful to those family members that found and/or offered special care to our children so that our team could plan and prepare for a fruitful School Year Session together!

Clockwise from top left: Tatum and his father attended a special quiet Orientation Visit so he could hit the ground running on his first day of school, the 21st; my son Wally helped shop for and install small shelves for Sandpaper Number display in Children's House West; Children House East's new Assistant, Steph, created beautiful sets of Fabric Squares for both Children's Houses (a Sensorial matching work, see Vera midway through matching below); my brother, Scott, carved our white pine stumps near our main doors into a very fun new seating area!

No matter when they started the School Year with us, all the children have so far enjoyed getting acquainted with both classic Montessori materials and activities new to CMC over the last three weeks. Watch out below for our returning children, already more familiar with our learning environments, leading by example:

A big thank you to our team for taking such beautiful pictures of our hard working and playing kiddos these first three weeks! We hope you all enjoy the chance to learn more about your children's experience at CMC each day!

We also hope to see many of you at two fun community events coming up: The Northland Unity Festival from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM this Saturday, September 16th (please sign up to volunteer with CMC at the event and fulfill Community Hours here) and our annual Fall Equinox Potluck the following Saturday, September 23rd, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM (we'll ring the lunch bell around 12:30 PM once the spread has been set)!
